Join the adventure and empower the kids you love to help other kids, just like Zak the Yak does! John Wood (bestselling author of Leaving Microsoft to Change the World and the upcoming, Creating Room to Read - to be published by Penguin February 2012), wrote Zak the Yak with Books on His Back to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Room to Read, the organization he founded. He wanted to inspire kids everywhere to change the world, just like he did. All you need is an idea, and a little help from your friends.
Around the world, missions of kids don't have access to books. Room to Read brings UNESCO prize-winning stories and fun, non-fiction books to kids in places like Cambodia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and many more. These books are written in kids' native languages, by local writers and illustrated by local artists. Every book Room to Read places in the hands of a child opens their eyes to a new world of imagination, education and endless possibility.
When you download Zak the Yak with Books on His Back, you help put three more local language books into the hands of kids who need them. Share your love of reading and possibilities that unfold with literacy. Share Zak the Yak with children in your life and show them how easy it is to help change the world!
